The Magnet Drawing is created by holding a shaped magnet behind the sheet of paper and sprinkling it with iron filings to hold it in place. Once the magnet is in place, the paper funnel that is cut out of the paper directly above the magnet is filled with iron filings. Once the funnel is empty, the drawing is complete. The magnet can then be removed; leaving the evidence of the unseen forces of magnetism and gravity. The impermanent nature of the material I am using in this series creates an experience that calls into question the confidence we place in our knowledge.
